“The past is never where you think you left it.” Katherine Parker  It does seem like it was just yesterday that I could see folks mending nets, knitting bait bags, building traps from lathes and other jobs related to fishing.  Even the fish houses,”bait shacks” are not what they used to be.  History does play an important role in our lives.  History can help us to see the benefits of new developments and sometimes the downside as well.  People used to work very hard for a dollar.  It seems as technology and education have taken a stronger role in our lives that folks are able to get more value for the labor they expend.  People still work very hard, it’s just a different variety of work.  We live in a more complex and complicated world now.  It doesn’t take away the benefits of life gone by but hopefully if we take the time and effort to evaluate our lives we will be able to take the best of both worlds and meld them into a new  paradigm .
